Ottawa Ontario Visited
by Gary McWilliams (aka Festival Nomad)
You that you have never visited the Nation’s Capital!
Really? That’s a shame!
Ottawa is one of the most beautiful city in Canada, and perhaps, North America.
Also, it’s “jammed” with so many things to do and see!
Judi (Scoop) and I have had the opportunity to visit and explore Ottawa many times.
We’ve tour Parliament Hill, lunched in in the ,main “Members” dining room and attended a session of question period.
Actually, if contact your member of Parliament, he or she, might be able to arrange for a tour for you.
Our tour was as a result of winning a raffle at a fundraising event.
One year, we were even invited to attend Canada’s official Canada Day celebrations. Lots of people, but what an amazing event!
When we visit Ottawa, we try to stay in the Byward Market area.
It’s one of those area that is fun to explore on foot, so many fun shops and excellent restaurants!
In addition to Parliament Hill, Ottawa is definitely the home of many wonderful museums.
In Ottawa, we have visited the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Canadian War Museum, the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum and the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.
Across the river, in Gatineau Quebec, there’s the Canadian Museum of History.
Like I said, there is so much to see and do!
Fun events play a huge part in Ottawa’s culture.
I think our favourite event is Winterlude.
Unfortunately, each year, weather plays a big part in its success.
Winterlude is definitely a great event, but it is just one of many!
If you are planning on visiting Ottawa or area, you check our Ontario Event Directory for upcoming events.
If you haven’t visited Ottawa, you should put it on your “bucket list“.
Maybe we’ll see you there!
