Fergus Ontario Visited
by Gary McWilliams (aka Festival Nomad)
We were visiting Elora and decided to travel and visit nearby Fergus.
I had only been to Fergus once or twice, and that was a long time ago, so I didn’t really remember it.
Coming into Fergus from the west, we passed a number of parks.
We were headed for Downtown Fergus.
Downtown Fergus is a “picture” of Ontario heritage.
The distinct Fergus downtown street is line with heritage buildings.
In many ways, it’s like traveling back in time.
Yes, these “limestone” buildings have been brought up to “modern times“, but there historic effect has not been lost.
As we drive through the town, more magnificent buildings emerge.
It’s hard to “look” and “admire” and “drive” at the same time!
I start to look for a place to stop and look.
There seem to be no available parking spots!
The challenge is, we need to stop.
To find a place to stop and park!
Finally I see a side road on my right and I take it.
Even on the side roads there are beautiful buildings to discover, but still no parking spots!
It’s very busy in Downtown Fergus!
Finally we come to an empty parking lot.
We are finally able to relax and take in our surroundings. Fergus is definitely a wonderful community to “visit and explore“!
We will have to come back when we have more time and Fergus is less busy.
