Cheltenham Ontario Visited
by Gary McWilliams (aka Festival Nomad)
I almost moved here!
I had an offer on a home in Cheltenham, but couldn’t get clear title.
I always wondered what life would have been like if I had moved to this “scenic” village.
But that was years age, and now is now.
It’s funny, we had just visited another small community in the area and were just driving around, exploring the surrounding rural roads.
That’s what we were doing when we came to the “closed road” sign (shown above)
As soon as I saw Cheltenham and that the road was closed for “Cheltenham Day“, I knew that we had to go and investigate!
We crossed over a river into the downtown area.
A “party” was happening!
A “soap box” race had just finished and now a “pie eating” contest was about to begin.
The object of the contest was to eat the pie “without” using hands! Interesting!
We wandered further into the village, past vendor tents and fire truck display.
It seemed like everyone from the community was there, having a great time!
I had come across the village of Cheltenham years ago and was struck by its charm.
In returning, so may years later, I realized that it still had that “special” charm.
I wondered if others, who visited Cheltenham, had that same feeling.
It was great re-visiting Cheltenham and enjoying Cheltenham Day.
It was time to cross over the bridge and resume our rural explorations.
